New Edition of Thaw!

Posted by rwday on January 22, 2009

I should have posted about this earlier, but I’m up to my neck in readings and school project, and that’s pushed just about everything else out of my mind – this semester is going to be rough.

Anyway, the Lethe Press edition of A Strong and Sudden Thaw is available with a shiny new cover!

Also available for pre-order as a print edition on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other places as well!

Rising from the dead, pen in hand

Posted by rwday on January 6, 2009

I’m not even going to try to make excuses as to why I haven’t posted in ages, because it’s self-explanatory.  This is my writing blog, and I haven’t been writing, ergo, no posts.  That, I hope, is going to change.  It already has, to some extent.  I haven’t written every day since the new year, but it’s been close.  Part of it is thanks to the discovery of Write or Die, which was mentioned in an interview with Hayden Thorne on Speak Its Name, so thanks Hayden and Erastes.

I’m easing back into writing with some short story work – finishing a few works in progress, trying to come up with some subs for upcoming anthologies, while I figure out what I’m going to do about a novel.  I’ve got a lot of good WiPs, and of course there’s still the Thaw sequel, but it’s really hard to think about going back to that world and those characters after so long away.  A bit like finding yourself going on an extended vacation with relatives you haven’t seen since you were six.

I’m inclining towards starting something completely new, if for no other reason than the psychological boost of the clean slate.  But, like Scarlett O’Hara, I’ll think about that tomorrow.  For now, all I’m focusing on is word count.  Quantity now.  Quality will come later.
